Biographical outline.

1832       13 January (25) was born in Elabuga.
1844       Acts in the First man's grammar school of Kazan.
1848       Leaves the fourth class of a grammar school and comes back in Elabuga.
1852       Acts in a School of painting, sculpture and architecture in Moscow, where is engaged under a management A.N.Mokritsky.
1856       Ends the Moscow school of painting, sculpture and architecture. Acts in the Petersburg Academy of applied arts, m studies in a class s. M. Vorobiov.
1858       The Pine on Valaam, a View of Valaam Island receives the large silver medal for figures пером and picturesque etudes of Valaam.
1860       Ends the Petersburg Academy of applied arts. In September receives the large gold medal and right on foreign business trip for pictures " a View of Valaam Island. Kukko.
1862       April 27 - leaves in business trip in Germany. Lives in Berlin, Dresden, Prague, Munich.
1863       Since March - in Zurich. Is trained in R. Coller’s workshop.
1864       Visits Paris. Works on lake. Together with L.L. Kamenev and Е. Dukker works in the Teutoburg Forest on an open-air.
1865       Settles in Dusseldorf. Is engaged lithograph. Writes a picture View near Dusseldorf , for which receives a rank of the academician.
              In June comes back in Russia. Settles in St. Petersburg.
1866       Participates in the World exhibition in Paris. In a village Bratsevo under Moscow executes job Midday. Vicinities of Moscow. Bratsevo (Air). Gets acquainted with Ф.A. Vasilyev.
1867       The Cabin of a wood executes a picture. In the summer together with Vasilyev goes on Valaam, where works from a nature.
1868       The first album of lithographs "Etudes from a nature pen and on a stone" is published.
              In the summer with Vasilyev family leaves on rest in village Konstantinovka under St. Petersburg. After short trip in Elabuga to marry on Е.А. Vasilyeva.
1869       Executes a picture Noon in the Neighbourhood of Moscow, acquired Tretyakov.
              Birth of the daughter Lidia.
1870       On competition of a Society of encouragement of the artists receives the first premium for a picture Forest Stream.
1971       At the first exhibition of Company of mobile art exhibitions Evening participates by a picture.
              Birth of the son Vladimir.
1872       For a picture Pine Forest in Viatka Province receives the first premium on competition of a Society of encouragement of the artists.
              Participates in exhibitions Peredvizhniki and Academy of applied arts.
              September 1 - death of the father. A little bit later - death of the son.
1873       The rank of the professor for a picture Coniferous Forest is awarded. The first album of etchings is printed.
              May 19 - birth of the son Konstantin.
              Participates in the World exhibition in Vienna.
              Together with Kramskoy and V. D. Grigorovitsh organizes an exhibition of Vasilyev’s pictures (after his death).
1874       March 6 - the wife has died. In the summer lives and works at station Siverskaia.
1875       Death of the son Konstantin.
1878       Is selected by the candidate in the members of government of Company of mobile art exhibitions in the Summer visits Valaam, then lives in Siverskaia.
1882       Participates in the All-Russia industrial - trade exhibition in Moscow. Summer works from a nature in Siverskaia.
1884       Finishes a picture Wood distances. Figures coal. Travels on Volga, then goes in Elabuga. In the autumn writes etudes in Sestroretsk.
1885       In the summer leaves on etudes in Pargolovo, Sestroretsk, on the Karelian isthmus.
1886       At an academic exhibition exhibits figures coal. The oak grove, a The Holy Spring Near Yelabuga executes pictures.
              The etchings album is issued. In Sestroretsk writes Pine-Trees Lit Up by the Sun.
1888       Works in Shmetsk near Narva. Writes a picture Wind-Fallen Trees.
1889       Goes in Petrozavodsk Writes etudes in Mery-Hovy and Pavlovsk. Executes Morning in a Pine Forest.
1890       Writes etudes in Finland. Works above illustrations to poems of M. Lermontov “In the northern wilderness”, “Floods of the rivers similar to the seas”.
1891       Works from a nature in Mery-Hovy. Executes pictures Rain in an oak wood, In the northern wilderness....
              January 26 - the personal exhibition in halls of Academy of applied arts opens.
1892       The Album of Russian painting "Pictures and figures of Ivan Shishkin" is issued.
1893       Executes a picture Wood cemetery. Is nominated as the professor - chief of landscape workshop of a Maximum art school at Academy of applied arts.
1894       Works from a nature in Shmetsk and Merrekul. The album "60 etchings of Ivan Shishkin. 1870-1892".
1895       October 15 - is released from a post of the professor - chief of landscape workshop.
1896       Participates in the All-Russia exhibition in Nizhni Novgorod.
1897       November 1 - again is authorized in a post of the professor - chief of landscape workshop.
1898       The Mast-Tree Grove finishes a picture.
              8 March (20) has died in St. Petersburg.
